‘Life In Old Dublin’ was published in 1913 by James Duffy and Co. Ltd., 38 Westmoreland Street. Written by James Collin it is a curious volume which appears to have originally been written either for occasional publication in a newspaper or, possibly, for delivery at a local history group. It may have been a vanity publication as a list of subscribers is included at the back

It’s not an introduction to the city and would be best read after Chart. It is, however, a quirky look at the old city with many historical documents and the occasional swipe at the City Fathers through the ages. I, for one, found it highly enjoyable. KF.
